Always a sabbatical favorite, our Newton Center (Boston) home  Is for rent starting next July (2026), for a one-year (or two-year, or preferably multiple-year) lease.

Three bedrooms (including beautiful main bedroom with crown  molding and bay window, and private new full bath with easy walk-in shower), second full bath with a bathtub, and several brand new California Closet storage areas.  In-unit washer/dryer.

Open floor plan: Large living room with bay window and window seat,  polished hardwood floors, and working fireplace  with brick and granite hearth. 

Direct-entry garage parking (ie, you can walk inside, directly from your car to your home without having to brave the snow), plus an additional outdoor parking spot.  Small basement storage. Fenced back yard, small front yard.   

All new windows, just-polished hardwood floors throughout, new paint, new roof,  central forced-air heating and central AC.  

This is the ground floor unit of a  separate-entrance two-family home; the upstairs neighbors are a lovely young couple with an adorable (& quiet!) ten-year-old.

Very quiet, very friendly, tree-lined street, two-minutes walk (one block) to Newton Center, subway, shopping, restaurants, park, enormous playground and Mason Rice School playspace, tennis courts, large public library, synagogues/churches, Hebrew College, Andover-Newton Theological, Crystal Lake (swimming, sailing, sunbathing), PreSchool Experience nursery school, and excellent public schools  (Mason Rice or Ward elementary schools, Brown Middle School, and Newton South High School.)

Newton was recently voted 'Safest City in America' and also USA Today's "Top City in America" in which to live. Both Newton highschools were just voted in the top 5% of US highschools.

Tenant shares yard/snow responsibilities with neighbor. (We are lucky to have another neighbor who graciously handles most of the snow blowing each winter!)

Condo utilities depend largely on use, but for our family of five, working at home fulltime (ie, this is pretty much the max you can expect to pay) we paid:

Electricity: $70/month 

Natural gas: $100/month average over the year (ranging from $35 to $170/month depending on time of year.)

Separate systems: The two HVAC heating/cooling systems are not connected; there are separate furnaces and separate ductwork on separate floors (one in the attic, one in the basement.)

Almost accessible (but not entirely):  The main unit is on one floor, and one of the bathrooms has an accessible walk-in shower.  Doorways are wheelchair-passable if narrow.  BUT there are stairs down to the basement/garage. 

Basement storage unit for your use  is roughly 3 x 5 feet. (Garage space can also be used as storage.)

$4700/month,  unfurnished. (Furnished is sometimes a possibility for an additional fee.)
